In business, you sometimes form connections that grow into long-standing, trusted relationships. I first worked with Dan years ago when he was brought in to develop the brand identity for a consulting client of mine in the finance and property industry. He did an exceptional job, creating a cohesive, professional identity that captured the essence of the business and positioned it strongly in a competitive market. The clarity and consistency he brought to their branding had an immediate impact, helping them attract the right clients, stand out from the competition, and clearly communicate their value. That experience showed me the real strategic value Dan brings to every project, and I’ve continued to turn to him ever since.
Since then, Dan has supported a range of projects, from branding and websites for other consulting clients, to developing the brand identity for my son’s company (Pure Turf Care), to collaborating with my wife on marketing materials for several medical research initiatives, and helping with design and collateral for my own business. In every case, he brings creativity, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of brand strategy and how to build a brand that drives business results. He’s easy to work with, always delivers on his promises, and produces consistently beautiful, purposeful work. I wholeheartedly recommend Dan to anyone looking to elevate their brand.
We worked with Dan Buchan Design to help develop the Dockside Festival brand from scratch. The idea of the event was born between a collaboration of our independent events business and the local council to create a sports and community festival that showcased the historical heartland that is Port Adelaide.
Dan fully immersed himself in the exploration phase, gaining a deep understanding of our goals and delivering creative solutions that truly aligned with our vision. While we had some initial ideas, Dan expanded on them, developing a variety of exciting and innovative concepts for us to explore.
Being a council-owned event, there were a lot of stakeholders and opinions to consider and Dan was a huge part in helping us navigate that process and find an outcome that not only appeased all parties, but remained in line with our original vision.
He was easy to deal with, accessible, and invested – which we feel was a by-product of the intimate experience available from a hands-on and bespoke design team, as opposed to a large-scale agency.
I first started working with Dan when I was running a marketing company in the On-premise liquor space called 100Proof.
I was impressed with his creative thought process around the brand and strategy we were I presenting. As it was a relatively new company, we were constantly evolving, and Dan was great with taking the teams thoughts and bringing them to life. We worked together for a few years as he moved our brand into new areas and executions before the Company eventually fell victim to Covid in 2020.
I re-engaged Dan when I brought him on board in my new role in Metcash as head of Wholesale merch and marketing in 2021. This was a much larger business, and more challenging as it had traditional brands that had been left “unloved” for over 5 years. He added great value by bringing a fresh perspective to our digital, print, and brand strategy, delivering creative visual solutions that truly resonated with our audience across digital, promotion and the instore space.
More importantly thought is he is a great guy, really good team player and perhaps most importantly very calm in delivering the outcomes.
